As I walked into the newly renovated Alexandria Hotel during the Downtown L.A. Art Walk last week, I am swept away with all of the beautiful, handcrafted one of a kind artwork and accessories on display. While the local artisans are hurrying around their showcases getting ready for the large crowds that make their way downtown, I am drawn to the booth of Yolanda Jo, who launched her own accessory line in 2008. The “JO” collection consists of fun color textured leathers, plush feathers, precious stones, and unique paint splat designs, with each line cleverly named JOsie, JOsephina, JOlie, etc… These fancy feathered accessories are perfect for that girl who is fashion forward and wants to add little “swagger” to her step. I couldn’t resist and had to grab myself an early Christmas present… a “JOcette” Feather Earring; boasting long rooster feathers and fresh water pearls on a silver chain! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Fujiko’s Floral designs of Los Angles are unbelievably unique and vibrant in color! I especially love seeing feathers used in men’s wedding boutonniere’s. Although some say it’s bad luck to use only one peacock eye when decorating or designing, this peacock themed wedding had plenty of feathers embellishing hand held floral bouquet’s and decorations to make it uniquely a special occasion! I’ve never seen such a gorgeous array of colors used in a wedding theme such as this one.

“Black Swan,” director Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller set in the world of professional ballet, is a stylish treat.
The film, which opened this weekend, boast exquisite, Rodarte-designed ballet costumes, showcasing the use of feathers, Swarovski crystals and tulle.
Something tells us this movie will leave us with visions of skillfully applied black eye makeup and high fashion feather pieces pirouetting in our minds.
