RODARTE and the Mulleavy sisters  were honored when invited to present a ten piece couture collection at Pitti W. in Florence Italy. Behind the Scene Action : “George Biddle, CPA The Feature Film

Check out this film using tons of  feathers sourced by Zucker Feather and The Feather Place coming out in early 2012! Can’t wait to see feathers fly!

The Feather Place has uncovered a unique, but limited stock of grizzly patches and pelts that can be used to make hair extensions and jewelry.  With the supply of grizzly feathers becoming harder to find, these feathers are great alternatives for designing one-of-a-kind pieces.

The month of June is typically the start of summer vacations, bar-b-ques and trips to the beach. In the LGBT community the month of June sparks Gay Pride parades around the country. Many cities from L.A. to Miami have celebrations, but NYC holds the title for the original and the longest parade. Nothing makes you feel more fabulous than being decked out in feathers. Fierce drag queens and sexy hunks are creating everything from feathered headdresses to armbands, bustiers, and corsets. With the Gay Pride parade fast approaching there is a frenzy for pheasant, ostrich and rooster feathers which are used  to create the most original and creative pieces.

Here’s one of this Feather Girl’s favorite Gay Pride looks made of venery pheasant feathers:

Alexander McQueen was a visionaire, a leader, and a truly remarkable designer. He appreciated quirky natural materials, and we have always loved his incorporation of feathers into his whimsical pieces.

New York City is abuzz with talk of the Metropolitan Museum’s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit. Here in the NY showroom we were especially excited to attend because we supplied feathers for some of the mannequins! Our natural white duck pointers were painted gold and used to create fierce mohawks. Also included in the exhibit are dyed ostrich plumes, black rooster coque and so much more.

Thousands of ringneck pheasant feathers were carefully sewn to create this stunning gown:

The exhibit is running at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City until August 7th. The Feather Place NY feels that everyone needs to see this breathtaking show, it is definitely not to be missed!

Feathers can inspire people in every field, so it didn’t surprise us when The Color Association of the United States (CAUS) wanted to use our feathers for their Spring/Summer 2012-2013 Beauty Color Forecast!

Our dark turquoise stem-dyed peacock swords were the perfect inspiration for CAUS’s “Oasis” theme. “Oasis” reflects our earths’ dependency on water and all the life within water. A chlorophyll inspired green and cool blues bounce beautifully off of the natural iridescence found in peacock feathers.

The forecast launch was held at Glassybaby, a unique glass store that sells hand-made votives and glasses in over 450 colors. 20 votives were made to correspond with the 4 themes from the forecast, Oasis, Against the Grain, Haze, and Jellies. You can check out their beautiful store on 555 Hudson St, New York.
