Galerie Perrotin, located on Madison Avenue in NYC, made a neon colored splash in the art world with Paola Pivi’s cheeky exhibit featuring feathered polar bears! These mighty bright creatures were frozen in playful motions, one even hanging from the ceiling as if mid flight, and all covered in Chandelle feathers! We love a fun project with feathers and this is an easy DIY idea at home- just use our Chandelle Boas to turn your favorite animal into a fluffy piece of art!

BLOG PIC 2

Now that we have all had some time to breath (phew!) after the Spring 2014 fashion shows we are excited to share with you our round up of all the feather trends and styles from this season! Feathers can be seen every season but we were especially blown away by how innovative designers were with their uses of all different types of plumage. Lesser used feathers such as Stripped Rooster Coque Tails, Goose Nagoire, Pheasant Tails, Rooster Hackle, and Turkey Quills were spotted on the runways. Check out Gareth Pugh’s goddesses above and Alexander McQueen’s out-of-this-world looks below that seem ready to take flight!

Erdem (below) used Stripped Rooster Coque Tails for interesting three dimensional texture and ostrich for a feminine feel.

Giles (below) created volume by using full Ostrich Plumes for Spring 2014.

A pop of color and texture of ostrich feathers made a bright statement at the Thomas Tait show below. DIY with our 2 ply Ostrich Feather Boa!

Tufts of Ostrich Feathers make a feminine statement at Rachel Comey (below left), while a more full look is seen at Robert Rodriguez (right).

Moschino Cheap & Chic (below) targets the flamboyance of youth with full Ostrich Feather hems. Don’t miss the shoes too, such a great DIY idea!

Marabou Feather Boas made a comeback in a big way on the Sonia Rykiel runway (below left), while Tadashi Shoji showed working woman chic with Ostrich Fringe details.

… and more Ostrich Feather details at Bluemarine! Jil Sander (below right) went in a completely different direction by using Rooster Hackle Feathers for a more streamlined and shiny look.

BLOG PIC 11

Moncler Gamme Rouge took feather fashion by storm by using Chinchilla Rooster Feathers for a wild, safari look.

BLOG PIC 14

These last few shows we especially loved because they featured feathers as accessories and statement pieces- Feathers make great details and they are not just for clothes! Below is Prada showing us that Rooster Coque Tails make stunning bracelets and headbands.

Bronze Turkey Tails, Imitation Eagle Quills and Turkey Quills as head wear accented the simplicity of the clothing at Nicholas K (below left). Y-3 used hand painted and dip dyed Turkey Quills as hair accents against basic sportswear.

Junya Watanabe created quite a stir with her showstopping head dresses created using Venery Pheasant Tails and Lady Amhearts Center Pheasant Tails.

Marc Jacobs as part of his Spring/Summer 2014 show for Louis Vuitton

So the rumors are true! Marc Jacobs is leaving Louis Vuitton after 16 years as creative director at the fashion house!

Here are our favorite images from his final show, and no he does not disappoint! Just check out the large Black Peacock Feather Headdresses the models wore…They are reminiscent of the one Cher wore to the 1986 Oscars! Of course we are in LOVE!

He is leaving the house of Vuitton with a spring 2014 collection that was in an all-black palette that was equal parts showgirl, biker chic and seductress. The models sported large feather headdresses and they came out in beaded black dresses, sheer gowns and tops worn with jeans and biker boots. – Forbes
