We love featuring our talented clients especially when showcasing artistry created with the help of our feather products. Let the sultry Ariana Savalas & Los Angeles-based dance troupe, LA Follies tickle you fancy with brilliant this arrangement of Blank Space!

Here is a Postmodern Jukebox Vintage Cabaret with the LA Follies ; who had a had a residency with Postmodern Jukebox the fall of 2014 thru the spring of 2015 at Hyde on Sunset. In addition they toured with them throughout Southern California, Las Vegas and the UK. We asked them about that experience and how feathers played a role in their costumes and props.

…the brilliant Scott Bradlee is constantly creating new arrangements of songs. We had the amazing opportunity to be in one of their videos- however there are always a few obstacles. One- the space to perform in  was very very very tight for the number of dancers, there was no edit- the singer/music is all live and a single shot- and we didn’t have the music till a few days before (the band had been touring and doing a residency all whilst creating new arrangements- they are incredibly talented). Also- when we received the music it was just the piano and singing- we didn’t know what the bass- percussion- horns or anything else would sound like until we arrived. Scott is incredibly open artistically and allowed us to utilize our artistic voice. Ariana Savalas who is fabbbb – is a big fan of vintage cabaret style theater. Since we couldn’t do our usually big kicks- turns etc..  I was at a loss… We had recently done a gig that you may have seen featured in the LA Times or Rolling Stone – the Schlitzbouts. For that event- we had bought an array of feather fans to perform our number Quizas. Luckily, I had the fans in the car (which is often where I get a lot of my choreo ideas- thanks la traffic) and thought of utilizing the fans in the video. The fans saved our hide! They have such vibrant colors (a lot of our costumes are black)- they add a lot visually but the dancers can be relatively stationary and in tight formations with still providing a visual impact. They are the best best best prop- and they came with us on tour throughout the UK and continue to be added to our costumes- props (they were part of our glow in the dark Black Swan performance at last year’s Latin Grammy Official Pre-Party in Vegas)! Thanks Feather Place! Your the feather in our cap- literally!
