Fantastic! DWTS Macy’s Stars of Dance routine choreographed by Marguerite Derricks featuring Feather Fans from The Feather Place Los Angeles totally blew us away. Our White Ostrich Plume Fans customized with a bright Red Ostrich Plumes on the reverse side dazzled as they flowed back and forth in this modern take on the classic choreography of the legendary Busby Berkeley! Make sure to WATCH this clip, sans the sounds of Dev- In the Dark . ENJOY!

Philip Treacy Feather Hat, 1995

Hats are like icing on a cake- ornamental and fun!

The Bard Graduate Center in New York City has a current exhibit called Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones and we just had to attend when we heard that feathered hats were to be  featured! This exhibit is a collaboration between the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the hat designer Stephen Jones, and had over 100,000 visitors when in the UK.

There are over 250 hats on display, ranging from an Indian crown made in the 1800s to the original shoe hat by Elsa Schiaparelli.  We were amazed by all the hats, but the ones that incorporated feathers particularly caught our eye!

London Fashion Week: Gile’s Fantastical Feathers

by The Feather Place NYC on September 20, 2011

The prominent British designer Giles Deacon added some whimsy and macabre to his SS 2012 show today in London. His use of feathers for the model’s headpieces and as accents on already stunning dresses truly took our breath away!

Birds and flight were big inspirations for the designer this season as can be seen in swan printed dresses and carefully crafted pieces that were part masks, part couture hats.

We are definitely taking some ideas from this show for our Halloween costumes! Use our Ostrich Plumes to make your own Giles-inspired piece!

25 year old Leila Lopes was crowned winner of the 2011 Miss Universe yesterday in São Paulo, Brazil, becoming the first Angolan Miss Universe!  Lopes steps out as the newly crowned Miss Universe wearing a gold beaded gown embellished with delicate Ostrich Feathers.

Check her out, dressed in a feathered traditional carnival costume…I love the burst of color in the Pheasant Feather cape as well for the Red Chinchilla Rooster Saddle used to trim and add flare.
