Zendaya vogues in feathers for VOGUE July 2017

in FASHION,FEATHER TRENDS

VOGUE magazine is always bringing the freshest trends and designs to our thirsty, fashion-craving eyes, and the July 2017 issue is no exception. We here at TheFeatherGirl would like to lavish special attention on the July 2017 issue because – FEATHERS!!Former Disney-teen-princess-turned-fashionista Zendaya on the cover of Vogue July 2017. Striped Rooster Coque tails and Ostrich. Top by Calvin Klein.

VOGUE July 2017 sees Disney-teen-princess-turned-fashionista Zendaya adorned with feathery tops and hats and jackets that are sure to ruffle your feathers (in a good way!)

Zendaya wearing various feathered pieces.

From the cover to the editorial, Zendaya and photographer Mario Testino show off the ease and elegance of wearable feather fashion — from the flirty Fausto Puglisi ostrich feather-trimmed shirt, to the absolutely gorgeous J.W. Anderson chain-mail dress with sectional Grey ostrich, these pieces truly highlight that fashion and feathers are a match made in heaven! And the black marabou feather pom-pom earrings by Tuleste (pictured far left) are the epitome of chic elegance!

And don’t forget to visit  THE FEATHER PLACE website, where you’ll find feathers and products that you can use to make your own stunning feathery designs! If you’re in the NY or LA area, be sure to stop in at our showroom locations.

Comme des Garcon,  Art  of the “In- Between” is a brilliant exhibition that combines fashion and art.  The exhibition explores the avant-garde design works by Kawakubo.  It takes us away from our comfort zone and brings us to this completely deconstructed world and challenges us on the different conventional notions of good taste, aesthetics, beauty and fashionability. “In- Between” explores some of Kawakubo’s works dating from 1980’s all the way  to some of her most recent collections.
This exhibition takes us into different stages  of aesthetics where we are able to see the revolutionary experiments in “In-Betweenness” (The place between boundaries).  It’s divided into nine different area where kawakubo’s explores notions of aesthetics, which include:  Absence/Presence, Design/Not Design, Fashion/Antifashion, Model/ Multiple,  Then/Now, High/Low, Self/Other, Object/ Subject and Clothes/ Not Clothes.
The explosion of feather textures is introduced to the Fiction/ Fact Section where Kawakubo explores storytelling tendencies which are presented into three thematic collections: Blue Witch and it’s Predecessors Lilith, Dark Romance, Witch.  The silhouettes showed in these  collections are a dismantle of man’s formal wear transformed into surrealist  abstract displacements. The silhouettes and forms are distorted and that allows a sense of storybook-like disorientation.
These are our images from the show…Enjoy!

The Hollywood Carnival and Cultural Festival 2017 was an amazing, world class experience. Los Angeles is truly a melting pot of “vibrant multicultural & diverse communities of people” from all over the world. Several countries presented; from Guatemala to Trinidad, Brazil, Mexico and so many more. It was great to see all the different cultural representations and carnival costumes in one parade. Here are some of the images we captured while at the parade. We know it takes months of planning and preparation to put these costumes together. Fortunately feather supplies are easy to come by at The Feather Place, located downtown Los Angeles. Wholesale is available to all carnival and cultural dance customers! We loved all of the amazing feathered costumes made with unique color combinations incorporating ostrich plumes, rooster coque tails, goose palettes, pheasant tails, and peacock feathers. Embellished with flashy sequence appliques, beads and trims to catch your eye, each reveler brings individual style and artistry within their groups theme. We’d like to give a shout out to our friends Extacy Mas, Jam Design Concepts, Bamboo Mas, Sistas wit Style, Caribbean Zone Productions, People of the Sun, The Mirage, Abraham Gonzales-Pollick from A Royal Piece and ALL of our carnival clients for counting on The Feather Place this year. And a SPECIAL Thank you to Extacy Mas … Parading with you was the time of my life-xo!

“The Los Angeles Culture Festival and Hollywood Carnival, are proud to present the annual Los Angeles Culture Festival and Hollywood Carnival Parade – a world culture festival – expressing the colors of culture and freedom of the world as one people. This is a celebration of our cultures and traditions, featuring colorful costumes, dances, food, arts & crafts, and music from around the world.”
