LOS ANGELES, CA Arturo Rios

Arturo Rios is a new generation of talented Fashion Hat Designers from Los Angeles, California; learned his exceptional skills and techniques from legendary Italian hat designer, Karen Indreland. Since 2005, Arturo has been designing fabulous couture headwear worn by famous personalities and clients around the world. Arturo was recently featured in an episode of PBS’s webseries ARTICULATE with Jim Cotter. Watch it here! 

NEW YORK, NY Christine Moore

In 1990 she moved to NYC to assist milliner Rodney Gordon. Under Rodney’s great supervision, Christine created hats for many Opera, Ballet and Broadway productions including The Phantom of the Opera, Will Roger’s Follies, Crazy for You, and many more. In 1994 she established Christine A. Moore Millinery in NYC on 34th Street between the fashion and accessories districts.  Although Christine designs a wide range of hats, she is best known for her explosive racing styles for the Kentucky Derby, two of which are in the Kentucky Derby Museum from when she was named the 2009 “Official Milliner” of the Kentucky Derby Museum. In March of 2018 she was named “Featured Milliner of Kentucky Derby 144”

LOUISVILLE, KY Britni Lynn Knable

Britni’s love of fashion began as a child and continues today. She studied at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago where she landed a coveted position with Chicago milliner, Linda Campisano. There she quickly discovered that hats and bridal wear were her true passion. After college she headed to New York City, where she studied under world renowned milliner, Tracy Watts. With strong local roots, Britni returned to Louisville to design race day and wedding headwear.

NEW YORK, NY Leah Chalfen

After receiving her bachelor of arts in foreign languages from Temple University, she studied millinery at New York City’s famed Fashion Institute of Technology, completed her graduate study under master milliner Patricia Underwood and trained with the head milliner of the Metropolitan Opera’s costume department.  She was also asked by Tim Gunn of Project Runway, to teach millinery at the famed Parson’s School of Design in New York City where she did so for several years.  

LOUISVILLE, KY Jenny Pfanenstiel

Jenny Pfanenstiel, Master Milliner and owner of Formé Millinery, is internationally recognized for her award winning craft of hand creating and sculpting hats using the highest quality and rare materials found all over the world. Since moving to Louisville, she has had the honor of being named the 2018 “Official Milliner” of the Kentucky Derby Museum.  You can find her permanent hat display at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.

AUSTRALIA Cynthia Jones-Bryson March 2017 – Best Millinery at Kentucky Derby, USA

Cynthia Jones-Bryson is an award-winning Australian milliner. She has been designing and making award-winning millinery for the last 16 years. Cynthia studied Fashion Design at Canberra Institute of Technology, with Millinery being one of her chosen subjects. She went on to live in London for several years where she undertook a number of theatrical millinery courses culminating in a love for all things headwear.
